On board of the tug-boat Liberty Tug, that is centre of the Fondazione Palazzo Intelligente, on occasion of the opening of Ayesha DeLorenzo's photo exhibition and Basterebbe sentirci naufraghi anche per un attimo, edited by Angelo Scandurra, the SalinaDocFest makes official its support to the petition drawn up by Franco Cordero, Stefano Rodotà and Gustavo Zagrebelsky for the freedom of the press.

This year again the wondows over the Brazilian Ocean that becomes Eolian Mediterranean are open wide. The twinning between the SalinaDocFest and the International Cinema Exhibition of S. Paolo, that begun in the last festival, keeps on this year on board o fan old Wolkswagen beetle. KFZ - 1348, the feature-film by Gabriele Mascaro e Marcelo Poderoso, opens the day in the conference room of Malfa. These two young directors are the winners of the Special Award of the panel of S. Paolo festival, and they gathered stories of life of people whom this car belonged to in the most remote corners of the Brazilian capital. With KFZ - 1348 Salina enriches its narrative background, adding a window on post-modern contradictions that produces invisible subjects. Brazil in Salina contributes to give back a face to each story. The twinning will go on with the selection of one of the documentaries of the section Il mio paese: gli invisibili, that will start tomorrow and will land in the next festival of San Paolo.

On Friday, September 18th, by the Pilone Nord of Porta Felice (Palermo), centre of the Fondazione Palazzo Intelligente, the art director Giovanna Taviani is presenting the Festival 2009. On that occasion, the titles that have been selected for the international competition are being published. The presence of outstanding guests and institutional and political authorities is scheduled.

The Festival is going to pay homage to Roberto Rossellini, in the section Reperti di memoria. In honour of the sixty years since the movie Stromboli - terra di Dio, this film is going to be screened in Stromboli, in the presence of Renzo Rossellini and of the inhabitants of the island who took part in the shooting.

The special award "Dal testo allo schermo 2009" will be given by the Honour Committee to the writer Mohsin Hamid (www.mohsinhamid.com) , for his novel Il fondamentalista riluttante. The Honour Committee is composed by the film makers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, by the literary critic Romano Luperini, and by the movie critic Bruno Torri. The writes, who is of Pakistani origin but lives in London, is being present on the Island during the final days of the Festival, and is meeting the audience on the topic: "Scrivere in Occidente dal punto di vista dell'altro" ("Writing in the western world from the other's point of view").

On the occasion of the now usual weekly appointment of Thursday: A roman window on the "SalinaDocFest", dedicated to the narrative documentary festival created and directed by Giovanna Taviani (until March 19th from 20:30, in the seat of Apollo 11), within the appointments of "Racconti dal vero", the artist Melo Franchina gives moments of real visual poetry through a series of shots dedicated to the island of Salina, at the heart of Isole Eolie and declared human heritage by Unesco.

A Roman window over SalinaDocFest, the festival dedicated to the narrative documentary, created and directed by Giovanna Taviani, with the valuable collaboration of local institutions and hoteliers, that has been cultural soul of Eolian summer for two years. Within the appointments of "Racconti dal vero" screenings, meetings, debates and tasting of local products of the islands will take place every Thursday, from January 29th to March 19th, h. 9 p.m., in the Apollo 11 seat. The event is organized by Mazzino Montinari, Antonio Pezzuto and Giovanna Taviani, with the support of the Associazione Apollo 11.

Tha SalinaDocFest will be guest of the Giornate del Documentario Italiano, organized by the Associazione Doc.it and that will take place in Palermo from 3rd to 14th of December. On Friday 12th at 10:00, within the meeting Circuito Festival, the guest festivals will be introduced, so as to give the opportunity to promote and make known the activities carried out during the events.

On Tuesday 25th of November at 18:00, by the Casa della Letteratura in Piazza dell'Orologio 3, within the performance "Festival della parola 2008 Roma poesia", the SalinaDocFest will introduce the two winner documentaries of the second SalinaDocFest: "Come un uomo sulla terra" by Andrea Segre and Dagmawi Yimer and "Welcome Bucarest" by Claudio Giovannesi. The performance will be presented by Giovanna Taviani and Emanuela Tomassetti. Documentaries' authors will be present.
